We are delighted to present the March 2025 edition of the Electrical Engineering Department’s e-Newsletter at K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research. This edition highlights the grand success of the IET KK Wagh Expo 2025, a national-level technical extravaganza that brought together budding innovators and engineering enthusiasts from across the country. With over 300 participants and 88 dynamic project teams, the event showcased creative solutions and technological prowess across multiple domains. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all faculty, students, and industry partners who contributed to making this event a remarkable achievement. IET KK WAGH EXPO 2025: A Crucible of Innovation and Engineering Excellence!

The IET KK WAGH EXPO 2025, orchestrated by the vibrant Electrical Department of K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik, emerged as a resounding testament to the power of innovation and the boundless potential of young engineers. Over two exhilarating days, February 28th and March 1st, 2025, the expo transformed the campus into a dynamic hub of creativity, collaboration, and technical prowess, drawing participants and spectators from across the nation.

The expo's success was rooted in meticulous planning and execution, spearheaded by a dedicated team of faculty and student coordinators. Under the esteemed patronage of Dr. K.N. Nandurkar, the Director of K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, the event was guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. R. K. Munje, In-charge Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, who served as the convener. Prof. S.K. Shinde's expertise as the faculty coordinator and Prof. Dr. B.E. Kushare’s role as a mentor were instrumental in shaping the expo's direction. The student body, led by President Mr. Avishkar Arote, Vice President Mr. Akshay Gawade, Secretary Mr.Yugant Nandre, and Treasurer Ms. Aira Malegaonkar, demonstrated exceptional organizational skills, ensuring the seamless operation of the event. Twelve committees, including Publicity, Registration, Material Issue, Decoration, Certification, Photography and Poster, Food, Inauguration, Cultural, Pandal, Project Assessment, and Hospitality and Accommodation, worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of the event.

The IET K K Wagh Expo's inauguration on February 28th at 10:00 AM marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Shri. Mukul Srivastava, President - Switchgear Business at CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, delivering an inspiring address that emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry. The ceremony was further elevated by the presence of esteemed guests, including Shri. Prashant Dorge, Branch Head, Lauritz Knudsen; Shri. Ravi Wadikar, Owner, Electromotives, Nashik; Shri. Rajendra Kodmelwar, Business Unit Head, AMT Skill Enhancement Institute LLP, Nashik, and other distinguished figures from the industry and academia. The presence of Mr. Prashant Kushare, President of IET Nashik Network, and Prof. Dr. R.K. Munje underscored the event's significance in fostering a strong network within the engineering community.

The working model competition, the expo's centre piece, showcased the ingenuity of 88 teams from across India. Participants journeyed from not just Maharashtra, but also from Madhya Pradesh (6 teams), Telangana (3 teams), Andhra Pradesh (3 teams), and Karnataka (1 team), highlighting the expo's national reach. Projects were meticulously evaluated across two categories: Group A, focusing on cutting-edge fields like Electrical, Computer, and AI, and Group B, encompassing traditional engineering disciplines such as Civil and Mechanical.

National Project Competition:

Group A:

2. Second Prize (₹50,000): Sanjivani College of Engineering, Kopargaon (RudrakshaMakune, Dadasaheb Moeen, Krushna Memane, Sairam Jawale, Saniya Pathan) - "ADAS Implementation System for Commercial Vehicle."

1. First Prize (₹82,000): Sanjivani College of Engineering, Kopargaon (Shekhar Gaikwad, Omkar Bhabad, Tejas Thete, Pratik Pagare, Asimkhan Navid Pathan, SaurabhPawar) - "Agro Dash."

2. Second Prize (₹50,000): K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research (Shreyas Bhadane, Akshay Gawade, Rohan Chaudhari, Roshan Anwat, Vaibhav Mhaske, Nilesh Sanap, Shraddha Sanap, Pratiksha Taskar) - "Development of Electric Agricultural Rover for Smart Farming Applications."

3. Third Prize (₹25,000 - Shared):

Poster Presentation Competition:

The poster presentation competition focused on "AI-based applications in engineering."

  1. First Prize (₹3,000): Omkar Kadbhane, K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research.
  2. Second Prize (₹2,000): Pratiksha Jadhav, K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research.
  3. Third Prize (₹1,000): Dnyaneshwar Bhagwat, Bhumi Sonekar, Vinit Magar, Tejas Sonavane, Sanjivani College of Engineering, Kopargaon.

Photography Competition:

The photography competition captured the essence of the expo.

  1. First Prize (₹3,000): Om Pawar, K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research.
  2. Second Prize (₹2,000):Vaidehi Galphade, Sanjivani College of Engineering, Kopargaon.

 The expo reached its culmination with a valedictory function on March 1st at 4:00 PM. Shri. Ramesh Saligrama, Vice President at Robert Bosch India Nashik, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, delivering an inspiring address that resonated with the audience. The prize distribution ceremony celebrated the achievements of the participants, recognizing their hard work and dedication. The success of the IET KK WAGH EXPO 2025 was made possible by the generous support of sponsors, including CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, Lauritz Knudsen, Legrand, MSS India, KOSO, Accusonic Controls, ICAD, and Garwa Water Companion.

The IET KK WAGH EXPO 2025 stands as a shining example of the transformative power of engineering education and the unwavering commitment of K.K. Wagh Institute to nurturing the next generation of innovators. The event not only showcased the technical prowess of the participants but also fostered a spirit of collaboration, creativity, and lifelong learning, leaving an indelible mark on the engineering landscape.

Expert Lecture on “Applications of RL & RC circuits” on 27/03/2025!

Department of Electrical Engineering in Association with EFFECT student Body organized an Expert Lecture on “Applications of RL & RC circuits "for SY B.Tech (A and B) students and staff of the department on 27/3/2025. Resource Person: Mr.Ashok Jain Total No. of Students present = 153. The session helped students to understand Electrical Networks, types of networks, etc. Prof Jain also provided deep insights into network theorems, circuit analysis techniques, and problem-solving approaches, helping students strengthen their foundational understanding of electrical networks. 

Expert Lecture on “Know Your Electricity Bill” on 26/03/2025!

Department of Electrical Engineering in Association with IET Student Body has organized an Expert Lecture on“Know Your Electricity Billfor SY-A & B students and staff of the department on 26/03/2025. Resource Person: Mr. ShriramGajananPande,Retired, Junior Engineer, MSEB.Total No. of Students present = 131. An expert lecture aimed to educate participants about the structure and components of their electricity bill, helping them understand energy consumption patterns, tariff rates, and hidden charges. The session provides insights into demand charges, power factor penalties, time-of-use pricing, and government subsidies. It also covers energy-saving tips, renewable energy options, and smart metering for better efficiency. By the end of the lecture, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge to optimize their electricity usage, reduce costs, and make informed decisions about energy consumption, ultimately promoting sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

Expert Lecture on “Gas Power Plant” on 10/03/2025!

Department of Electrical Engineering in Association with IET Student Body has organized an Expert Lecture on Gas Power Plantfor SY-A & B students and staff of the department on 10/03/2025. Resource Person: Mr. Mujtaba Umaid Syed, Deputy Executive Engineer, MAHAGENCO, Uran, Navi Mumbai. Total No. of Students present = 116. An expert lecture provided students with valuable knowledge about the working components and real-life applications of Gas Power Plants, enhancing their understanding of power generation systems beyond the classroom.

Expert Lecture on “Advanced Techniques in Electrical Testing and Product Development for Sustainable Engineering” on 26/03/2025!

Department of Electrical Engineering in Association with IET Student Body has organized an Expert Lecture on Advanced Techniques in Electrical Testing and Product Development for Sustainable Engineeringfor TY- A & B students and staff of the department on 26/03/2025. Resource Person: Mr. Vishal Wagh.Total No. of Students present = 88.An expert lecture provided in-depth insights into modern testing methodologies, innovative product design, and sustainability-driven engineering solutions. The session covers advanced diagnostic tools, real-time monitoring systems, and predictive maintenance techniques that enhance reliability and efficiency in electrical systems. It explores non-destructive testing (NDT), power quality analysis, high-voltage testing, and AI-driven automation in electrical testing. Additionally, the lecture emphasizes eco-friendly product development strategies, material selection, and energy-efficient designs that align with global sustainability goals. Attendees will gain knowledge about cutting-edge technologies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices, equipping them to develop robust, sustainable electrical products with minimal environmental impact.

Certificate Course on" Transformer and Induction Machine Design using AutoCAD”

The department has conducted a Certificate Course on "Transformer and Induction Machine Design using AutoCAD" for Third-Year students starting on 22nd March 2025. This course aims to provide hands-on experience in designing electrical machines, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. We are happy to have Shri. Vishal Tathe, as the resource person, who will guide students through the intricate details of transformer and induction machine design. The course is coordinated by Prof. Jitendra Patil and Dr. Prajakta Dhole.

On 27/03/2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming our alumnus, Ms. Akanksha Shinde, back to the department! 🎓 She has had an inspiring journey, having worked with Infosys and later as a Data & Research Analyst at DIGITALFABRIC­® CONSULTING.

During her interaction with our second-year students, she shared valuable insights into the emerging opportunities in data science within the electrical engineering domain. She highlighted how data analytics, AI, and machine learning are transforming the industry and how electrical engineers can leverage these skills for a promising career.

Congratulations to Dr. Prajkta Dhole on the Successful Completion of Ph.D!

We are delighted to share that Dr. Prajkta Dhole has successfully completed her Ph.D. on “Investigation and Improvisation of Fault Location Algorithm in Transmission Line Using Artificial Neural Network” on 21st March under the guidance of Prof. AbooBakar Khan from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Mumbai.

Her research contributes significantly to power system fault detection, leveraging Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for improved accuracy and efficiency in transmission line fault location.

4. Devices used:

High-voltage test sets:

A high-voltage test set is a device used to test the insulation and dielectric strength of electrical equipment, such as transformers, cables, and insulators. Shows Fig. 1.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Test :

EMC test equipment is used to evaluate the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical and electronic devices, ensuring they can operate as intended in their electromagnetic environment without causing or suffering from electromagnetic interference (EMI).EMI Tester is shown in Fig. 2.

Key Features

1. EMI Testing: Measures electromagnetic emissions from devices. 

2. Immunity Testing: Evaluates device performance under electromagnetic stress.

3. Compliance Testing: Ensures devices meet regulatory standards for EMC.

Power Analyzers:A power analyzer is a device used to measure and analyze electrical power quality, efficiency, and performance in various applications. Power Analyzers are shown in Fig. 3.

Key Features

1. Power Measurement: Measures voltage, current, power, energy, and power factor.

2. Power Quality Analysis: Analyzes harmonics, distortion, and other power quality issues.
