It gives me immense pleasure to present the September 2025 edition of our Department of Electrical Engineering e-Newsletter. This month has been a testament to our collective spirit of learning, innovation, and achievement. From insightful expert sessions on emerging technologies like Smart Grids and Power Systems to enriching industrial visits, student competitions, and inspiring alumni interactions — every event reflects our department’s commitment to holistic growth.

I am particularly proud of our students who have brought laurels through placements, awards, and research accomplishments. Their enthusiasm and perseverance continue to strengthen our legacy of excellence. Equally, our faculty’s dedication to academic advancement, research, and industry collaboration reinforces our department’s vision of preparing globally competent engineers.

As we move ahead, let us continue to nurture curiosity, creativity, and collaboration — the true cornerstones of engineering education. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all faculty members, students, and coordinators who contributed to making this month’s journey so vibrant and inspiring.

Department Events

Expert session on “Control Panel Design" by Mr. Shrikant Jadhav, Sr. Design Engineer, Engineers Training Academy, on 13th September 2025

An Expert lecture was arranged in association with the IET On-Campus on “Control Panel Design” for TY Electrical Division: A and B students and staff of the department on 13/9/2025. Resource Person: Mr.Shrikant Jadhav, Sr. Design Engineer, Engineers Training Academy.  Total No. of Students present = 45. The expert lecture on “Control Panel Design” provided students with practical insights into the design, layout, and functioning of electrical control panels used in industries and automation systems. The expert explained key components such as circuit breakers, contactors, relays, PLCs, and wiring systems, along with safety standards and design considerations for efficient operation. Students learned about panel schematic preparation, selection of components based on load requirements, and cable management techniques. The session helped bridge theoretical concepts with real-world applications, enhancing students’ understanding of industrial control systems and electrical design practices.



Expert session on “Faults in Power System " by Mr Mangesh Dalvi, Additional Executive Engineer, MSETCL, on 27th September 2025

An Expert lecture was arranged in association with IET On-Campus on “Faults in Power System” for TY Electrical Division: A and B students and staff of the department on 27/9/2025. Resource Person: Mr Mangesh Dalvi, Additional Executive Engineer, MSETCL.  Total No. of Students present = 81. The expert lecture on “Faults in Power Systems” provided students with a clear understanding of various types of faults, their causes, effects, and protection methods. The session enhanced students’ knowledge of symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults, fault analysis using symmetrical components, and the importance of protective devices like relays and circuit breakers. Real-time examples and fault simulation demonstrations helped bridge the gap between theory and practice. Overall, the lecture improved students’ practical awareness of fault diagnosis and system protection, strengthening their foundation in power system studies.

Expert session on “Smart Grid " by  Mr Lalit Lambole, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Schneider Electric, on 30th September 2025

An Expert lecture was arranged in an online Session in association with the EFFECT Student chapter of the Electrical Department on “Smart Grid” for last year's Electrical Division: A and B students and staff of the department on 30/9/2025. Resource Person: Mr Lalit Lambole, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Schneider Electric. Total No. of Students present = 68. The expert lecture on “Smart Grid” enhanced students’ understanding of modern power systems integrating advanced communication, automation, and renewable technologies. The session covered the concept, architecture, and components of smart grids, including smart meters, sensors, and two-way communication networks. The expert explained how smart grids improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of electricity supply while enabling real-time monitoring and control. Students also learned about demand response, distributed generation, and integration of renewable energy sources. Overall, the lecture provided valuable insights into emerging trends and technologies shaping the future of the electrical power sector.

Teachers’ Day Celebration by EFFECT Student Body – Honoring Our Mentors

On the occasion of “Teachers’ Day, the EFFECT student body of the Electrical Engineering Department organized a heartfelt celebration to honor and appreciate the contributions of teachers. During the program, all the faculty members of the department, along with our respected Principal and the Heads of Departments, were felicitated by the students as a gesture of gratitude and respect. The event reflected the values of appreciation, respect, and the strong bond that exists between students and teachers. Such celebrations not only bring joy but also remind us of the profound role teachers play in shaping young minds, inspiring aspirations, and guiding students towards success. A big appreciation to the EFFECT student body for their sincere efforts in organizing this memorable celebration and for keeping alive the spirit of Teachers’ Day. 









Honoring Creativity & Inspiration

On 15th September 2025, our department had the privilege of hosting Mr. Pranav Satbhai – a renowned artist, 2x World Record Holder, Asia Youth Icon Holder, and Excellence Award 2024 recipient – on the occasion of World Photography Day (19th August 2025).

Mr. Satbhai graced the event by presenting awards to the winners of our Photography Competition, an initiative to celebrate creativity and artistic vision. He also shared his journey and insights, leaving students inspired to nurture their passion beyond academics.

This wonderful initiative was organized by the Avishkar Student Body of the Department, a platform where students are encouraged to explore and showcase their talents. The event was successfully coordinated by Prof. Sonali Patil along with the dedicated Avishkar Student Team.

Moments like these remind us that education is not just about learning within classrooms but also about celebrating imagination, expression, and individuality.




Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration – Visit by MSETCL Officials!

On 16th September 2025, we had the honor of welcoming senior officials from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) to our department:

Alumni Interaction Session on Placement Preparation – 13th September 2025

On 13th September 2025, the Department of Electrical Engineering organized an engaging interaction session with our recently placed alumni:

They shared their placement journey, recruitment process insights, interview preparation tips, and workplace experiences, giving our final-year students a real-world perspective on career readiness. With 41 enthusiastic participants, the session turned out to be highly interactive, informative, and motivating. Such initiatives not only bridge the gap between alumni and students but also inspire the next generation to aim higher and prepare smarter. This was coordinated by Dr Saravanan S.


Session on Climate Change and the Common Man on 18th September!

Under the course 'Education and Energy Awareness Programme (EEAP)', a thought-provoking session was organized for TY Electrical students on 18th September 2025.

The topic of the session, “Climate Change and the Common Man”, was delivered by Mr Dnyaneshwar Rathod, an expert from the Maharashtra State Agriculture Department with over 12 years of experience. His insights highlighted the crucial role each of us plays in addressing climate change and adopting sustainable practices.

This session was organized under the EFFECT Student Club and was ably coordinated by Prof. Chetan Gadge and Prof. Hemant Patil.

Such initiatives not only spread awareness but also inspire our students to become responsible citizens contributing towards a greener future. 



Parent–Teacher Meeting & Felicitation Ceremony

The Department organized a Parents Meeting for the students of Second Year (SY) and Third Year (TY) Electrical Engineering on 27th September 2025.

The objective of the meeting was to share the academic progress of students in the In-Semester Examination and seek valuable suggestions and feedback from parents.

A special highlight of the program was the felicitation of 16 students who won prizes in various events, celebrating their talent and achievements.

This event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Ashwini Khaire and Ms. Archana Pawar.

Such interactions strengthen the bond between students, parents, and faculty, ensuring continuous growth and collaboration.

Faculty Visit to ABB India Ltd. for Internship Review and Alumni Interaction!

 On 17th September 2025, Dr. Ravindra Munje and Prof. Nayana Jangle visited ABB India Ltd. to understand the work of students pursuing an internship. The students are Aira Malegaonkar, Sakshi Birari, Rohit Jadhav, and Vaishnavi Kandekar. They interacted with experts Mrs. Anucampa Supekar, Mr. Amit Mahalle, Mr. Machhindra Khadake, Mr. Rohit Tarle, Mr. Dilip Hingmire, and Mrs. Sukhada Raut. All of them gave excellent feedback about the students’ performance.

The excitement and eagerness of our students to showcase their learning was clearly visible, and the change in their confidence and professional outlook was truly inspiring. Experiences like these highlight the importance of strong industry-academia collaboration and the transformative impact internships create in preparing students for their future careers.

We also met our alumni in the Company. Thanks to all of them for meeting during the visit. 


Electrical Students Win 1st Prize at Institute-Level Aavishkar 2025 Project Competition!

Our students Sejal Kumbhare, PRATIKSHA JADHAV, Vikrant Harne, Shivam Gaikwad, and Om Bankar have secured the 1st Prize in the Institute Level Aavishkar 2025 Project Competition held on 12th September 2025.
The certificates and prizes were awarded on 19th September 2025 during the Engineers’ Day Program organized under the ISTE Chapter of our institute. The awards were presented by Mr. Ritesh Walia in the esteemed presence of Dr. Keshav Nandurkar (Director) and Dr. Ravindra Munje (ARC).

Congratulations to Saurabh Deore – 2nd Prize in Aavishkar 2025 Project Competition!

Congratulations to our talented student Saurabh Deore from the Department of Electrical Engineering for securing the 2nd Prize in the Institute Level Aavishkar 2025 Project Competition conducted on 12th September 2025.

We are proud to share that Shravani Shelke (TY Electrical) and Bhoomi Kabra (SY Computer) were selected for the Grand Finale of Red FM 93.5College ke Tashanbaaz” .

They showcased their incredible talent and emerged as 1st Prize Winners among Nashik’s best competitors, bringing home a cash prize of ₹11,000/-.

Industrial Visit to Mumbai Metro – Third-Year Electrical Students, 24th September 2025!

The Department of Electrical Engineering organized an industrial visit for Third Year students on 24th September 2025 at the Mumbai Metro.

The visit, coordinated by Dr. Ravindra Munje and Prof. Chetan Gadge, provided students with an insightful exposure to Signaling Systems, Communication Systems, Control & Coordination, Metro Operations, etc.

In all, it was a comprehensive experience that covered almost every aspect of engineering, giving students a deeper understanding of real-world applications.

A truly wonderful and enriching experience for our budding engineers!

We are delighted to share that our students Mr. Kuldeep Surve and Mr. Gaurav Savale, have been selected for the prestigious Neeraja Scholarship for the academic year 2025–26, awarded to meritorious and deserving students of the institute.

Dr. Ravindra Munje is Recognized as the Best Teacher

Dr. Ravindra Munje, on 4th September 2025, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, was felicitated as a “Best Teacher” at the 51st Teachers’ Felicitation Ceremony organized by Adv. Uttamrao Dikhale Panchavati Public Library. The award was presented to him by Hon. MLA Adv. Rahul Uttamrao Dikhale and Hon. Mr. Gurumit singh Bagga, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Shantaram Rayate and Granthmitra Nathuji Devre.

Strengthening Industry Ties: Visit to CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd.

On 18th September 2025, we had the privilege of visiting CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, Nashik, where Dr. Pramod Shahabadkar and Dr. Saravanan S interacted with Mr. Alok Khare (HR Head – Industrial Division) and Ms. Sri Vidya Iyer (HR Department).

The discussion was highly fruitful, focusing on our students’ performance during their industrial engagement and the planning of upcoming academic placements.

Such industry-academia interactions strengthen our collaboration with leading organizations and create valuable opportunities for our students’ professional growth.



Strengthening Industry Collaboration: Visit to Siemens, Nashik!

On 18th September 2025, Dr. Pramod Shahabadkar and Dr. Saravanan S visited Siemens, Nashik, where they had an insightful interaction with Mr Mohan Gote, who shared valuable perspectives on the company’s processes and culture.

During the visit, they also connected with our final-year internship students, Sejal Kakad and Aditya Waghsakar, and reviewed their ongoing learning experience at Siemens.

Such engagements not only strengthen our industry relations but also enrich the exposure and professional journey of our students.

Mental Health and Stress Management

Nowadays, life has become fast-paced and stressful due to work pressure, studies, social media, and personal responsibilities. People often face anxiety, depression, and emotional challenges. Because of this, mental health management has become very important to maintain emotional balance, stay healthy, and live a happier life.

Mental health is the mirror of our outer personality and greatly affects our character. Every human being faces challenges that impact their mental well-being. If a person’s mental health is good, they feel happy, confident, and able to face and solve problems effectively.

1. Causes of Mental Health Issues:

Nowadays, many people face problems with their mental health. Some common causes include:

1. High expectations from others – Pressure to meet everyone’s expectations can create stress.

2. Low self-confidence – Lack of confidence can make it difficult to handle challenges.

3. Fear of competition – Constant comparison with others can lead to anxiety.

4. Inferiority complex – Feeling less capable than others affects mental well-being.

5. Low patience – Impatience can lead to frustration and stress.

 

2. Mental Health and Engineering:

We never considered the possibility that engineering students' mental health was being negatively impacted by their academic burden. The pressure placed on engineering students is something we have probably heard about and seen in the case of several engineering students, whether they are our friends or we have seen engineering-related movies like 3 idiots. Engineering students are facing many issues like heavy academic workloads, high-pressure competition, and poor work-life balance, which lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout. It also includes imposter syndrome, isolation from group work, and financial pressures, all of which negatively impact their mental health.

 
 3. Solutions and Ways to Overcome Mental Health Problems:

To overcome mental health challenges, it is important to focus on self-esteem and seek support from family and friends, who play a crucial role. If someone is facing mental health problems, they should first identify the root causes. If they cannot understand the problem alone, they can consult with friends or family for guidance.

If the issues cannot be shared, writing thoughts in a diary can help. Reflecting and thinking about possible solutions can provide clarity and help manage mental health more effectively.

Good mental health is essential for happiness, confidence, and problem-solving. By understanding the causes and actively seeking solutions, individuals can maintain strong mental well-being and lead a balanced life. We have to trust ourselves. Don't get embarrassed to do those things you love. Be confident in life.
