Greetings!

Year-end and the semester-end happen to be in December. Academically, the year 2021 was full of experiments for all institutions, faculties, and students. In the beginning, no one thought that the 2^nd wave of COVID would be much more severe than the 1^st wave. But it was. Some of the faculty and some students had to go through bad times during this. But still, the battle was on. The number of activities, events, engagements, teaching-learning initiatives was equivalently the same or more than the offline environment. Due to a good number of vaccination of students, post-Diwali it was decided to start classes offline and we could see students in classrooms.

December, although, it is a semester-end for third and final year students, it is also the admissions period of FE and DSE students. On one side, the oral and practical examinations of the third year and final year students were going on and on the other end induction programs for FE and DSE were going on. SE student teaching and exams were conducted offline with proper precautions and TE and BE examinations were conducted online.

It is worth mentioning that the year endpoints a new beginning. It indeed happened with the grant of academic autonomy from the University Grant Commission and Savitribai Phule Pune University. The milestones and achievements like this keep all of us motivated to contribute to the greater extent to impart quality education to students.

Department Events

Celebration of Energy Conservation Day (14^th December 2021)

Institution’s Innovation Council of KKWIEER in association with the Electrical Department and EMT Club celebrated ‘Energy Conservation Day’ on 14th December 2021 at 11.00 am with an Expert Session of Shri. Suresh Bhandekar, Ex. Chief Engineer, Genco, (O&M) on Energy Conservation in Modern Thermal Power Plants at JVN Hall (Computer Department). 

Certificate Course on ‘PLC and SCADA’

Department has organized a certificate course of 30 hours on ‘PLC and SCADA’ for the student of final year electrical engineering from Dec 13-18, 2021. The course was coordinated by Prof. Atul Shewale.

Certificate Course on ’MATLAB: Computation, Visualization and Programming’

Department has organized a certificate course of 30 hours on ‘’MATLAB: Computation, Visualization and Programming’’ for the student of second-year electrical engineering from December 24-28, 2021. The course was coordinated and delivered by Prof. Ganesh Jadhav and Prof. Sarvanan.

Value-added course on ‘Understanding Project Life Cycle’

Department has organized a certificate course of 30 hours on ‘Understanding Project Life Cycle’ for the student of second-year electrical engineering from Dec 13-18, 2021. The course was coordinated and delivered by Prof. Dr. R. K. Munje and Prof. Pooja Raut.

Welcome of FE students

Newly admitted students of FE are welcomed in the department on 27^th December 2021 by providing the information of the department, vision, and mission of the department, various student bodies, activities and events, achievements, faculty introduction, etc. After that, students are taken to all the labs of the department and facilities of the institute. The activity is coordinated by Prof. S. S. Khairnar and Prof. J. D. Patil for Divisions A and B respectively. The session for Div A is delivered by Dr. R. K. Munje at 8.00 am and for Div B by Prof. A. M. Jain at 10.00 am.

Industrial Visit:

Industrial visit of the third year (Div A) students to 132 kV Takali Substation with Prof. Rupali Ahire, Ms. Shubhada Borade, and Shri. Navnath Thube, Deputy Executive Engineer, MSETCL was conducted on 8th December 2021 for the subject Electrical Installation Design and Condition Based Maintenance.

University Rankers:

Five university rankers’ from the SE Electrical class are listed in the May 2020 examination. One of them, Mr. Patil Kunal Yogesh is the Gold medallist. Congratulations to all!

Publication:

Soubhagia Suheesan and Ravindra Munje, presented a paper on ‘’Robust Observer-based Sliding Mode Control of a Pressurized Water Reactor’’ under Control and Instrumentation track in the 18th IEEE India Council Annual International Conference (INDICON-2021) held in hybrid mode from 19th – 21st December 2021 at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati).

Faculty Corner

Dr. R. K. Munje delivered an online session on ‘Innovation Centre, KKWIEER-IDEA Lab and Know my IET’ on 20th December 2021 in FE Induction program from 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm. Around 350 students attended the session.
